Full Force Pro - Magazine Issue # 2 - May '09
Welcome to Full Force Pro - The Magazine!
Tribute to Daniel Matthews Daniel Matthews was an original in Full Force Pro. He went on to form one of the FFP's most memorable stables, the Soul Assassins. Bringing in his trainees, Patrick McCoy and Veronica Clyne in for his feud against Christopher Morgan. Veronica has went on to become quite the superstar here in FFP, and thanks Daniel for all of his time training her. Matthews went on to become the first ever Full Force Pro World Champion, defeating Blood Reign and Tyler Blood in a 3-Way Dance. He ended up losing the title to Christopher Morgan, and never got a fair chance to get it back during FFP's first run. But when FFP was reborn, Daniel came back, and in his first match back, defeated Christopher Morgan in a Ladder Match to once again be FFP World Champion. Then, on April 22, Daniel was found dead in his new home in Detroit, Michigan. Matthews was a great wrestler, and a great person. He will be missed so much, and already is by so many of the FFP superstars and staff backstage, as well as the millions of fans that he touched, with his dedication, hard work, and persistence. Rest in Peace, Daniel Matthews.
Interview with FFP United States Champion, Hunter Brown Courtney Storm: Hunter Brown, thank you for sitting down with me. First off, how do you feel about your career here in FFP? Hunter Brown: Well, it's been good. Currently, I'm the reigning United States Champion, and even though Madison just lost her Television Title to Devon Thomas, she'll get it back. She's a bad ass, and he won't be able to stop her from getting back what she wants. Courtney Storm: Speaking of you being the US Champion...at Guilty Pleasures, you're going to be defending that title against Genocide. How do you think you'll do? Hunter Brown: I'll do just fine. Genocide is good. He's proven that by outlasting Caleb McCarthy and Van Morrison. But does he have what it takes to beat Hunter Brown? Absolutely not. He doesn't! And this Wednesday night at Warfare, Madison and I will give him and his little girl Vanity a preview, by kicking their asses all over Boston! Courtney Storm: Do you think that Vanity will play a part in your title defense at the pay-per-view? Hunter Brown: Well, I'll have Youth Gone Wild in my corner. And trust me when I say, that little girl doesn't have anything on my stable. Courtney Storm: Speaking of Youth Gone Wild, what are your plans with your stable? Hunter Brown: Pure dominance. There are so many in this federation that think that they are dominating. But look at the talent. Hunter Brown, Madison Skye, and Samantha Fox. Three of the greatest in FFP. I'm a future World Champion. Madison is going to get her title back, and Samantha Fox will wind up with the Diamond Title. Trust me, we'll dominate. And keep your eyes open, because it's only a matter of time before we announce our newest member. Courtney Storm: Well, we will definitely make sure to keep watch Hunter. Thank you for your time. Hunter Brown: The pleasure was all yours.
Diamonds in the Rough FFP Diamonds is the name given to the female part of the FFP roster. Even though these Women are beautiful they are also strong, athletic and competitive. The females of Full Force Pro are also not afraid to mix it up with the male contingent of the roster as the girls have proved over the last few months of the women’s division coming into full force. A lot of people from different federation's state that women shouldn't wrestle, but time and time again the women in this corporation known as FFP have shown just why those people who have said that women should get out of wrestling exactly why they are in this profession. The most beautiful women on television are not in the sport as eye candy, they are in it for competition. So let’s take a look at the Women on this roster and see what they have to say, I was lucky enough to get a chance to talk to each of the girls one to one to gain an insight into these fascinating women who come from all walks of life
Before getting in the ring Brandi Moore was a model, but she would shrug off the dumb model image any day and she made her debut with FFP and has fast risen to the top, she has a head for business and her eye on the prize: “I actually made my debut here in FFP as a manager for Logan Christopher. Logan ended up being a loser, and I dumped his ass for Caleb Newstead. Newstead was one of the best the FFP had to offer. He's a future Hall of Famer here. I have tried to talk him into coming back. I've actually done quite well for myself here! I know I'll get into that Hall of Fame that Matt Kraven is talking about. I'm the Commissioner; I was the Women's Champ, the Diamond Champ, part of the Women's Tag Champs, and currently a Tag Team Champion”
Courtney Bell grew up around wrestling, her father being a wrestler then later starting his own school and company back in London, she always knew she was destined o be in the ring: “It’s in my blood. My dad used to wrestle; he opened his own company when I was younger. Both my brother and I trained in all sorts of actives as kids, while training to step into the ring I also trained as a ref which got me involved in matches then I soon started wrestling matches”
She packed her suitcase and headed out across the pond to see what she could achieve in America: “I ended up in ECFW, I met Dita there and I spent a lot of time in low card matches and I worked some matches as a ref, I also got some great tips fro Kitten Charrington. She was a hell of a wrestler, she’s retired now but I’ve never seen anyone move like her in the ring, she pushed all the ECFW girls to the limit and taught me how to get myself up to a really high standard and believe in myself”
Growing up with a love of wrestling Veronica Cline knew she was destined to be I the ring: “I knew it was something I wanted to do. Seeing those older wrestlers in the 80's, was so awesome. It was bigger than life. From about the age of 5, I wanted to be a wrestler. And I never really pictured myself becoming a women's champion, although I always wanted to wrestle against Sensational Sherri.”
Madison Skye might be a tattoo artist who started as a manager but she stepped out of Hunters shadow and has found her place in the ring: “Honestly, I planned on only being a manager, but I think I've surpassed what I would have expected - even in my wildest dreams. Television Champion. Never would have thought I'd be called that. It's amazing. Other plans are maybe Hunter and myself winning the Tag Titles. And of course, Hunter becoming World Champion.”
When Dita Morgan ran away at 15 while on holiday in Ibiza she got more than she barged for “I worked in clubs, I was a dealer and drug runner, then I became a manager for a guy who I worked in the club for, things with him got too much… I left for America and didn’t look back”
Bad girl Samantha Fox might have hidden her love of wrestling growing up but she made sure before she stepped into the ring she was taught by the best: “I actually was a graduate of the infamous Hart House aka "The Dungeon" in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Believe me when I tell you this: The "Dungeon" really owns to its name--the staff there takes you to the full potential. Graduation day was one of the greatest moments of my life--next to my sweet sixteen, my first license and my twenty-first birthday, of course! I started down the path of the independent circuit after that”
She is one who won’t shy away from controversy and is proud to be a women in the ring: “I think there's always going to be some controversy regarding gender inequality not just in wrestling, but in any occupation. Men who want to be nurses are frowned upon by their peers and women who wants to enter construction, for example, are usually met with skepticism by the opposite sex. As far as me being in the ring, yeah, I've heard the hecklers and there isn't a day where I can rest peacefully without someone mentioning that wrestling isn't something women should do. Either we're not tough enough, or we should do something more in line with our femininity like being a secretary or something like that. As far as perceptions go, we're not seen for our talent, but as sex objects; it's almost nerving. Like I always say, I want to prove to everyone that I'm more than just a pretty face; I can wrestle just as good as the men.”
Lexi Dionysus she’s the sparkle in everything and new early on she wanted to be in the ring: “When I saw how crazy colorful people could be! My favorites were Doink the Clown, yanno, the scary evil version... and Goldust! They were sooo NEAT~!”
The final Diamond I spoke to was a tricky one, I knew it would be hard to talk to Psychotica and she lived up to the reputation, It’s clear from the start she doesn’t want to do the interview and doesn’t make this easy. It’s clear she is used to being on her own without family support: “Family? My family disowned me the minute I stepped into the squared circle. Friends? I have a few and they support me in general not condone what I actually do. As I am out of control in my ring. Yes, I said my ring did I stutter? You know I am starting to get a little annoyed at this stupid game but Rena tells me I have to do this for the fans. Screw the fans!! I am not gonna do a damn thing for them but I will finish this PR crap. So continue on.”
When asked about peoples negative views on women in the ring I’m met with a sigh and bored look: “Have I had problem being a girl in this business? No, but being a woman I sure the hell have and I can't stand those...a@@^&*es that say I could never make it. Look at me now? I am in the big leagues and you are where? As far as my view on women in the business? If they can take it then they belong here but if they can't then get the f out! That's my view.” So there you have it, an insight into the very different women, the Diamonds of FFP and as this goes to print the roster will have added new girls to the ranks. Whatever is said about these women it’s clear to see they are all determined to make a name for themselves and inspire a whole new generation of female wrestlers. These girls are on the rise, these Diamonds know what they want and they will get it!
